Jamie- you did an awesome job on this assignment! You sound like a really experienced teacher with great ideas. I love your motivation technique and assessment idea in your writing portion of the assignment. Definitely something I would like to incorporate as an aspiring teacher.
awe thank you so much! Im sorry, my blog isn't displaying who this was who left such a nice comment! aha but thank you! Feel free to use it! I am an aspiring teacher as well, no permanent position for me, i've just done a couple leave replacements and worked at a night school for a year, so it means a lot to get such positive feedback from my peers :)
I like how you embed Smartboard in your teaching the reading of informational texts. The feature of highlighting and collaboration would definitely enhance students' discussion and understanding of the meaning of the texts. Think-pair-share is great strategies to stimulate students' thinking through peer tutoring. Great job! :)
Suggestions:
Teach students how to use the rubrics to evaluate their own work and the work of their peers Using practice tasks, have students complete tasks then use the rubrics to score their work or do peer reviews

ReplyDeleteahh figured it out, thank you Frieda :)
ReplyDeleteI like that you picked a response to a film. That's thinking out of the box. I think it definitely would encourage the students more.
ReplyDeleteThe movie is a great idea. It will hold their attention, and it will make it easier for students to recall information
